Students are eligible to receive Advanced Certification in one of the specialty areas listed below if they complete each course listed in the specialty area. To receive Advanced Certification, the student must pass each course with an 80% or better. Select a specialty area below to learn about Advanced Certification for that area.
Advanced Certification Options
Integrated Marriage & Family Therapy
Students are eligible to become Advanced Certified in Integrated Marriage & Family Therapy above their licensure with the NCCA if they complete the following four courses:
- PSY601: Marriage & Family Counseling
- PSY602: Integrated Temperament Couples Therapy
- PSY603: Pre-Marriage Counseling with Temperament
- PSY604: The Father-Daughter Connection
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Students must pass each course with a final grade of 80% or higher to achieve Advanced Certification.
Students who complete these courses will receive their Advanced Certification upon completion of their degree and when their license from the NCCA is issued.
Child & Adolescent Therapy
Students are eligible to become Advanced Certified in Child & Adolescent Therapy above their licensure with the NCCA if they complete the following four courses:
- PSY611: Counseling Families
- PSY612: Counseling Children
- PSY613: Counseling Youth
- PSY614: Counseling & The Search for Meaning
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Students must pass each course with a final grade of 80% or higher to achieve Advanced Certification.
Students who complete these courses will receive their Advanced Certification upon completion of their degree and when their license from the NCCA is issued.
Substance Abuse & Addiction Therapy
Students are eligible to become Advanced Certified in Substance Abuse & Addiction Therapy above their licensure with the NCCA if they complete the following four courses:
- PSY621: Counseling for Substance Abuse & Addiction
- PSY622: Adult Children of Alcoholics
- PSY623: Counseling for Problems of Self-Control
- PSY624: Counseling those with Eating Disorders
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Students must pass each course with a final grade of 80% or higher to achieve Advanced Certification.
Students who complete these courses will receive their Advanced Certification upon completion of their degree and when their license from the NCCA is issued.
Temperament Therapy
Students are eligible to become Advanced Certified in Temperament Therapy above their licensure with the NCCA if they complete the following four courses:
- PSY106/PSY306/PSY506: Temperament Case Studies
- PSY107/PSY307/PSY507: Counseling the Codependent
- PSY661: Life's Answers Through Counseling with God
- PSY663: Living in the Spirit
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Students must pass each course with a final grade of 80% or higher to achieve Advanced Certification.
Students who complete these courses will receive their Advanced Certification upon completion of their degree and when their license from the NCCA is issued.
Sexual Therapy
Students are eligible to become Advanced Certified in Sexual Therapy above their licensure with the NCCA if they complete the following four courses:
- PSY631: Counseling for Sexual Disorders
- PSY632: Counseling & Homosexuality
- PSY633: Counseling for Unplanned Pregnancy & Infertility
- PSY623: Counseling for Problems of Self-Control
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Students must pass each course with a final grade of 80% or higher to achieve Advanced Certification.
Students who complete these courses will receive their Advanced Certification upon completion of their degree and when their license from the NCCA is issued.
Death & Grief Therapy
Students are eligible to become Advanced Certified in Death & Grief Therapy above their licensure with the NCCA if they complete the following four courses:
- PSY641: Counseling the Sick & Terminally Ill
- PSY642: Counseling for Anger
- PSY643: Joy in the Midst of Mourning
- PSY644: Counseling Families of Children with Disabilities
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Students must pass each course with a final grade of 80% or higher to achieve Advanced Certification.
Students who complete these courses will receive their Advanced Certification upon completion of their degree and when their license from the NCCA is issued.
Cognitive Therapy & Ethics
Students are eligible to become Advanced Certified in Cognitive Therapy & Ethics above their licensure with the NCCA if they complete the following four courses:
- PSY104/PSY304/PSY504: Quality, Ethics, & Legal Issues in Christian Counseling
- PSY108/PSY308/PSY508: Cognitive Therapy Techniques in Christian Counseling
- PSY661: Life's Answers Through Counseling with God
- PSY662: Making Life Healing Changes
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Students must pass each course with a final grade of 80% or higher to achieve Advanced Certification.
Students who complete these courses will receive their Advanced Certification upon completion of their degree and when their license from the NCCA is issued.
Crisis & Abuse Therapy
Students are eligible to become Advanced Certified in Crisis & Abuse Therapy above their licensure with the NCCA if they complete the following four courses:
- PSY642: Counseling for Anger
- PSY651: Counseling for Family Violence & Abuse
- PSY652: Counseling for Times of Crisis
- PSY653: Counseling the Depressed
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Students must pass each course with a final grade of 80% or higher to achieve Advanced Certification.
Students who complete these courses will receive their Advanced Certification upon completion of their degree and when their license from the NCCA is issued.
Domestic Violence & Intervention Therapy
Students are eligible to become Advanced Certified in Domestic Violence & Intervention Therapy above their licensure with the NCCA if they complete the following four courses:
- PSY106/PSY306/PSY506: Temperament Case Studies
- PSY611: Counseling Families
- PSY621: Counseling for Substance Abuse & Addiction
- PSY623: Counseling for Problems of Self-Control
- PSY654: Counseling & Self-Esteem
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- Students must pass each course with a final grade of 80% or higher to achieve Advanced Certification.
- Students must have a minimum of a Master's Degree and licensure from the NCCA.
Students who complete these courses will receive their Advanced Certification upon completion of their degree.
